Wiring issues are the most time-consuming electrical faults to diagnose correctly — but also the most satisfying to resolve permanently. Intermittent problems that come and go, multiple seemingly unrelated faults, and electrical issues that appear after rain or rough roads are all hallmarks of wiring problems. On vintage and high-mileage Harleys, original wiring harnesses deserve a thorough inspection before chasing expensive component replacements.

Common Wiring Issues We Address

• Corroded connectors: Deutsch and Molex connectors oxidize over years of exposure. High resistance in a corroded connector causes voltage drops, sensor reading errors, and intermittent faults. Cleaned and treated with dielectric grease.
• Chafed wiring: Insulation worn through from contact with frame edges, exhaust heat, or sharp body panels. Creates intermittent shorts to ground that are genuinely difficult to trace.
• Bad grounds: The majority of electrical gremlins on aging Harleys trace back to high-resistance ground connections. We clean all ground points to bare metal and apply corrosion protection.
• Broken wires: Fatigue fractures inside intact insulation — most common at tight bends near connectors or in areas subject to vibration.
