After five or six months of winter storage in Nova Scotia, your Harley needs more than just air in the tires before you head out. A thorough spring pre-season service catches everything that changed over winter — battery state, tire condition, fluid levels and quality, brake effectiveness, and control function — so your first ride of the season is a great one rather than a roadside breakdown.

What's Included

  • Engine oil change (regardless of fall mileage — winter degrades oil chemically)
  • Battery load test — replace if failed
  • Tire inspection: pressure, age code, tread depth, sidewall condition
  • Brake pad thickness measurement and rotor inspection
  • Brake lever squeeze test — confirm firm feel with no sponge
  • All fluid levels checked: primary, transmission, brake, coolant (if applicable)
  • Throttle function: smooth roll-on, positive snap-back at both lock positions
  • Clutch cable inspection and adjustment
  • All lights and signals function test
  • Chain or belt inspection if applicable
  • Visual fuel system inspection for leaks
  • Startup and idle quality assessment
  • Written report of findings with recommendations

Why Spring Oil Change Matters

Even if you changed the oil in the fall before storage, we recommend a fresh oil change at spring startup. Oil that sat all winter has absorbed any condensation that formed in the crankcase, and the additive package degrades during extended storage. Starting the riding season with fresh oil costs less than the damage that can result from running degraded oil in the first hard rides of the season.

Book your spring service appointment early — April and May are our busiest months at the Pictou County shop. Call ahead rather than waiting for the first warm weekend.
