The track and rear suspension take more abuse than almost any other component on a snowmobile — ice, rocks, and hard-packed trail all wear the plastic hyfax slides that the track rides on, and improper tension or alignment accelerates that wear dramatically. A track that's too tight ratchets and wastes power; too loose and it can derail or ratchet off the drivers entirely.

What's Included

  • Track tension measurement and adjustment to manufacturer spec
  • Track alignment check — centred evenly between the rails
  • Hyfax (slide) wear measurement and replacement when worn near the rivets
  • Rear suspension (skid frame) inspection — shocks, springs, and pivot bushings checked
  • Drive/idler wheel inspection for flat-spotting or bearing play
  • Track clip and lug inspection for damage

Why Hyfax Wear Matters

Riding on worn-through hyfax means the track rides directly on the metal rail — this generates heat, accelerates track wear, and can damage the rail itself if ignored long enough. Low-snow, icy, or rocky trail conditions (common in Nova Scotia compared to deep-snow regions) wear hyfax noticeably faster than powder riding. We check hyfax thickness at every pre-season service so replacement happens on schedule, not after damage occurs.

Ice and Rock Riding in Nova Scotia

Our trail conditions run icier and rockier than western or northern snow country, which means faster wear on track and hyfax than the manufacturer's baseline intervals assume. We factor your typical riding areas into the inspection schedule we recommend.
