Snowmobile Clutch & Belt Service

A snowmobile's primary and secondary clutch system does the same job as a UTV's CVT — but works through a much wider range of loads, from a slow trail cruise to full-throttle deep powder riding. Worn rollers, weak springs, or a glazed belt cause poor acceleration, belt squeal, or backshifting problems that make a sled feel sluggish even when the engine itself is healthy.

What's Included

• Primary (drive) clutch disassembly, cleaning, and inspection — rollers, weights, and bushings checked
• Secondary (driven) clutch inspection — helix, spring, and ramp condition assessed
• Belt deflection and width measurement
• Belt replacement with manufacturer-spec belt
• Clutch alignment (offset and centre-to-centre distance) checked and adjusted
• Clutch weights or springs upgraded on request for elevation/riding-style tuning

Symptoms of Clutch Wear

• Bogging down at low RPM before the clutch fully engages
• Belt squeal on acceleration, especially in cold starts
• Harsh, jerky engagement instead of smooth takeoff
• Visible belt dust inside the clutch cover

Cold-Weather Clutch Setup

Clutch calibration that feels right at -5°C can feel completely different at -25°C, since belt grip and air density both change with temperature. If you're riding across a wide temperature range through the season, we can advise on a weight/spring setup that performs consistently rather than being tuned for one specific condition.
