Electronic Ignition Conversion

The electronic ignition conversion is the single most impactful reliability upgrade for any Harley-Davidson with a points-and-condenser ignition system. Shovelheads, Ironhead Sportsters, and pre-1970 Knuckleheads and Panheads all benefit dramatically. Electronic ignition eliminates points wear, points adjustment, condenser failure, and timing drift — turning a bike that requires quarterly attention into one that starts reliably for years.

Timing After Conversion

Electronic ignition requires correct static and dynamic timing to perform properly. We always verify timing with a strobe light at the correct RPM for your engine — this is not a set-it-and-forget-it installation. Correct timing is what transforms a vintage Harley from a temperamental starter to a reliable machine. Once set correctly, an electronic ignition holds timing indefinitely without adjustment.

Coil Upgrade

Original 5-ohm coils are adequate but high-output electronic ignition systems work better with a matched coil. If your coil is original to the bike or unknown vintage, we'll recommend a replacement coil as part of this service for best results.
