Tire mounting on a Harley-Davidson requires correct technique and appropriate equipment. Wide rear tires — particularly on Softail and V-Rod models — require specific mounting tools to avoid bead damage. Balancing is critical: an out-of-balance tire creates vibration that becomes progressively more pronounced at highway speed, fatiguing both the rider and the steering head bearings over time.

What's Included

  • Wheel removal (front or rear)
  • Old tire deflated and removed
  • Rim inspected for cracks, corrosion, and valve stem condition
  • New tire mounted with appropriate tire lubricant (never petroleum products)
  • Bead seated properly at correct inflation pressure
  • Static balance with wheel weights positioned for minimum imbalance
  • Valve stem replacement if old or cracked
  • Wheel reinstalled and axle torqued to spec
  • Final inflation to recommended pressure

Tire Age Check

When mounting new tires, we check the manufacture date code on the sidewall and advise if the tires being installed are already approaching or past the 5-year recommended maximum age. Tires purchased from some online sources may have sat in warehouses for years before you buy them — knowing the age before mounting is important.
