Fork oil degrades with heat cycling, compression, and contamination from worn fork seals. After 40,000 km or 3–4 years, fork oil has lost much of its viscosity consistency and damping characteristics. Fresh fork oil restores precise front-end feel, reduces brake dive, and improves bump absorption — improvements that are immediately noticeable on the first ride after service.

What's Included

  • Front wheel and fender removal (as required for access)
  • Fork legs removed from lower triple tree
  • Fork caps removed — springs and damper rods extracted
  • Oil drained completely — old oil inspected for metallic contamination
  • Dust seals inspected — cleaned or replaced
  • Bushings inspected for wear
  • Correct oil volume reinstalled (per spec for your model and year)
  • Air gap set to specification
  • Fork legs reinstalled and triple tree torqued

Viscosity Options

Harley specifies Type E fork fluid for most models (a light viscosity). Heavier fluid (Type B equivalent) slows compression and rebound slightly — popular with heavier riders or those who feel the front end wallows under hard braking. We'll discuss options for your weight and riding style before proceeding.
