Book This Service(902) 755-6532Brake rotor replacement is needed when rotors wear below minimum thickness, develop deep scoring from metal-on-metal contact, warp from excessive heat, or crack. A worn rotor reduces pad contact area and braking effectiveness — and can cause dangerous vibration under hard braking. Rotors are replaced with pads as a complete brake system service.
What's Included
- Wheel removal
- Rotor removal from hub (typically 5 or 6 bolts, thread-locked)
- Hub surface cleaned of corrosion
- New rotor installed with fresh thread-lock compound
- New brake pads installed (pads should always be replaced with rotors)
- Wheel reinstalled with axle torqued to spec
- Brake system bleed if any fluid was disturbed
- Brake test and bed-in procedure
Minimum Rotor Thickness
The minimum thickness is stamped on the rotor face. Most Harley rotors minimum out at 4.5–5.0mm. Measure with a micrometer at multiple points — a rotor can be within spec at one spot and below minimum at another if it has uneven wear. When in doubt, replace it.
