A Stage 2 cam upgrade is the most transformative performance modification you can make to a Harley-Davidson engine. While Stage 1 improvements (air cleaner and exhaust) improve breathing, a performance cam changes when and how long the valves open — fundamentally altering the engine's powerband character. The right cam for your riding style and existing modifications delivers real, feel-it-in-the-seat power gains.

What's Included

  • Cam selection consultation — mild, medium, or performance profile matched to your riding
  • Engine preparation and cam chest access
  • OEM cam removal
  • New aftermarket cam installation (Andrews, Screamin' Eagle, Wood, or your choice)
  • Cam chain tensioner upgrade on Twin Cam engines (recommended and often required)
  • Fresh cam chest gaskets and sealants
  • Fuel mapping recommendation for your new cam

Choosing the Right Cam

Mild (Screamin' Eagle 203/255, Andrews 26H): Strong low-end torque, excellent idle quality, great for touring and daily riding. Best with Stage 1 modifications.

Medium (SE 255+, Andrews 37G, Wood 544): More aggressive power curve, some idle lumpiness at high overlap. Good for riders who use the throttle assertively.

Performance (SE 465, Andrews EV27, Wood 556): Strong mid-to-top power. Requires supporting valve spring upgrade. Best for performance builds with big bore or head work.

Tuning After Cam Installation

Every cam upgrade requires fuel system adjustment. The new cam profile changes airflow characteristics and the stock fuel map won't correctly serve the new engine behavior. At minimum, a Stage 1 download tune is needed. For best results, a custom dyno tune extracts the full potential of the cam and your specific combination of modifications.
