Book This Service(902) 755-6532Fuel injector cleaning is one of the most overlooked services on EFI Harleys. The injectors are precision components that must deliver a finely atomized, metered spray of fuel into the intake. Over time, varnish deposits from ethanol fuel, and particularly from fuel sitting in the injectors over a Nova Scotia winter, can partially clog the pintle and distort the spray pattern — causing rough idle, stumbling, and poor fuel economy.
What's Included
- Fuel injector removal
- Flow rate testing before cleaning (establishes baseline)
- Professional ultrasonic cleaning with injector-specific solvent
- Spray pattern verification
- Flow rate testing after cleaning (confirms improvement)
- Fresh injector o-rings installed
- Reinstallation with fuel system pressure test for leaks
Symptoms of Dirty Injectors
- Rough idle on one or both cylinders
- Stumbling or flat spot on acceleration
- Poor fuel economy compared to previous seasons
- Hard hot restarts
- Fuel trim codes stored in ECM (lean or rich corrections maxed out)
Prevention
Adding a quality fuel stabilizer (Sea Foam, Star Tron, or Lucas) at winter storage dramatically reduces injector deposit buildup. Running the engine for 10 minutes after adding stabilizer distributes it through the injectors before shutdown. This single habit prevents the majority of spring injector problems we see at our Pictou County shop.
